interoffice memorandum

subject: direction from water demand committee regarding ord 98
date: jULY 1, 2003
cc: fran farina, water demand committee members
The Water Demand Committee provided the following direction that can be implemented immediately as administrative practices:
1. Ordinance No. 98 bathrooms may not be designated as the Master Bathroom. An applicant may not install a separate tub and shower in an Ordinance No. 98 bathroom.
2. At this time, an applicant can install a second sink in the Ordinance No. 98 bathroom, but the second sink is not the Master Bathroom sink.
The Water Demand Committee will continue its discussion on the auxiliary unit issue at the July 24 meeting. In the meantime, Ordinance No. 98 bathrooms may not be added in caretaker units or in other detached units. Several other issues that were discussed at the Water Demand Committee meeting on June 24 will require a new ordinance and cannot be implemented administratively. The review of Ordinance No. 98 is currently scheduled for the August Board meeting.
Debbie Martin has been asked to compile a list of Ordinance No. 98 participants that can be passed to Cal-Am to obtain water consumption information pre- and post project. Debbie will be working with Inder Osahan on this during the next couple of weeks. It is our goal to have a request to Cal-Am before the next Water Demand Committee meeting.
